Former Hockey Team Doctor for St. Mary’s Men’s Hockey Team, Zvi Levran, Charged with Sexual Misconduct
Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) December 5, 2022 - Sommers Schwartz recently discovered that Dr. Zvi Levran served as an on-site hockey physician for Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep Eaglets Varsity Boys Ice Hockey team. Known as the "Hockey Doctor," Dr. Levran was trusted by both Michigan and Minnesota hockey communities.
Dr. Levran has been charged with sexual misconduct in Oakland County, Michigan. He has provided medical services for over thirty-three years through volunteer work with hockey team organizations, hospital affiliations, and his private practice.
Dr. Zvi Levran provided medical care to youth hockey players in Michigan between 2000 and 2011. He also had hospital associations with St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital and Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills. He then moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where he practiced at Lake Region Healthcare until 2018. In the summer of 2018, he moved back to Metro Detroit.
On October 18, 2022, Levran was first arrested when a 19-year-old male patient visited Levran’s residence for a medical examination. According to the teenage victim, Dr. Levran sexually assaulted him during an exam. Oakland County prosecutors then charged Levran with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. At the time, he was released on a $100,000 bond.
On November 11, 2022, prosecutors authorized ten more charges against Levran after other victims—all linked to hockey leagues in Michigan and Minnesota—stepped forward, and investigations uncovered further instances of sexual misconduct.
The new charges against Levran include one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and eight counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The bond requirement was increased to $1 million. He could not pay the cash or surety and has been held at the Oakland County jail.
