Sommers Schwartz Investigates Allegations Against Father Mark McQueston, Offers Support to Abuse Survivors

 [[{"value":"

Detroit, MichiganSommers Schwartz, PC, a leading Michigan law firm, is actively investigating allegations against Father Mark McQueston. The Attorney General of Michigan included Father McQueston, an active priest and senior member of the Diocese of Marquette, on its list of credibly accused sexual offender clergy members in 2022.

The alleged abuses by Father McQueston date back to as early as the 1980s, during his time in seminary. Allegations include writing “love letters” to young boys, disrobing and exposing himself in front of minors, and having choir boys spend the night with him in the rectory. Despite the severity of these allegations, an internal investigation by the Diocese of Marquette found the witness testimonies vague and could not unearth any corroborating evidence.

While the actions of Father McQueston are deemed inappropriate, the lack of substantive evidence left the diocese unable to hold him accountable for any crimes. Father McQueston continues to serve the church with the full support of the diocese.

Sommers Schwartz attorneys Lisa Esser-Weidenfeller, Matthew Curtis, and Jay Yasso are dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual abuse, seeking justice on their behalf. The firm has a successful track record of holding high-profile predators accountable, having recovered millions from offenders such as Dr. Larry Nassar, the Michigan State University and USAG team physician, and Dr. Robert Anderson, who abused students, athletes, and other patients for over thirty-five years at the University of Michigan.
